Full Moon at 29 degrees and 36 minutes of Aquarius on Sunday, August 22 at 5:01am in Tucson, Arizona.

I wondered how to describe the current weird feeling in the air and literally saw a pair of bike handlebars abandoned in the street. So, “Look Ma, No Hands!” is my phrase for this frazzle dazzle Full Moon in Aquarius conjunct go-big-or-go-home Jupiter (retrograde) blessing our skies. Aquarius energy, governed by wacky Uranus, is given the reputation for being eccentric, a true breaker of molds; whether you want your mold broken is another matter.

Technology and devices, science, systems-thinking, the grand Interweb, group-think, humanitarian causes, factions, and friend networks are all within this out-of-the-box fixed air sign’s purview. And no, it’s not a mistake. The last Full Moon was also in Aquarius (at 1 degree); this one is at the final degree (29) of the sign, so though it’s rare, it can happen. Leave it to Aquarius to show us how seemingly hard-and-fast rules like one Full Moon per sign can indeed be broken from time to time.

Breaking the pattern may be fitting now, as 2021’s vibe is absolutely Aqua-heavy with both Saturn and Jupiter spending so much time in and therefore drawing everyone’s attention to the sign’s themes in a big way for the whole year; an extra dose of Aquarian insight might be just the perspective we need to make sense of and define boundaries in the collective madness. The given mantra for Aquarius is I know [and I don’t need to prove it.]” Are there things you thought you “knew” that are now evolving in unexpected ways? Read on to make use of the auspicious lunar goodness.

ASPECT DETAILS & SELF-WORK APPLICATIONS

WHY DOES IT ALL SEEM SO EXTREME RIGHT NOW?

{FULL MOON CONJUNCT JUPITER RETROGRADE AT THE FINAL DEGREE OF AQUARIUS}

With the Full Moon at the 29th (anaretic) degree of Aquarius, the energy is certainly all-caps AQUARIAN with exclamation points. The final degree creates the emphatic feeling of a deadline rush, and being in an air sign, an urgency to authoritatively know, to understand, to decide. This pressure is completely self-created, illusory, and temporary, but it’s likely to seem real under this Moon.

If that weren’t enough, we also have additional amplification coming from the Moon being conjunct (in the same spot) as Jupiter Retrograde, now back again in give-me-space-damn-it Aquarius after spending a minute in free-loving, boundary-less Pisces. To give a real-world example, Jupiter entering Pisces timed precisely with theme parks opening back up and a temporary lifting of collective restrictions.

We got a break from so much Aquarian-themed pressure and focus. The sudden return of everyone perhaps needing masks after all, among other things, happened right when Jupiter re-entered Aquarius. Maybe we do have more to learn collectively. Can astrology teach us about collective trends? I don’t know, but it’s something to think about.

Jupiter in any sign is usually considered “good” because it’s linked to new opportunities or growth and expansion. In reality, it just likes to bring more, more, more of whatever it touches, for better or worse. Aquarius, highlighting collective decisions, is raising wide-reaching questions about web and public censorship, security, general rules of what is beneficial or not for the whole. You’re not just deciding for you, but for everyone, and that can feel a little heavy without space to breathe. The restriction side of Aquarius is exacerbated right now by Saturn’s presence in the sign, which we’ll touch on more below.

HOW TO SURVIVE A FULL MOON REMINDER

You don’t necessarily need to act on whatever comes up, but pay attention to it, because there might be clues to self-truth in it you typically ignore. Use the next two weeks in the waning cycle (i.e., until the next New Moon) to proactively apply your insights when the intensity subsides. Paying attention to New and Full Moon phases can teach us how perceptions create reality, but even perceptions can be shifted with a little conscious work.

So, notice your thoughts and inclinations around this time, as they’re likely to say something about whatever you were thinking around the time of the New Moon 2 weeks ago, as is most always the case. Lunar timing can teach you how your thoughts, desires, and fears alike create the reality you experience. With generous Jupiter’s involvement this time around, you might be getting more than you asked for. Instead of getting overwhelmed, be grateful for the blatant clarity the energy can bring. It won’t always be this intense all day and every day.

HOW WOKE DOES THE UNIVERSE THINK YOU ARE?

{FULL MOON’S RULER URANUS (FRESHLY RETROGRADE) IN TAURUS}

Because Uranus just turned Retrograde, and Aquarius is under the rulership of Uranus, this Moon has an exceptionally bold Uranian flavor to it. Check out the short video on Instagram all about the recent Uranus Retrograde to understand more about this component. Uranus is known for being shocking, expository, progressive. When it’s in Retrograde, it’s all about unearthing and working through stagnancy and barriers.

This is hardly a bad thing, but it’s usually misunderstood. Uranus feeds off the static energy a person generates by trying to hide or edit parts of their natural energetic truth (i.e., known or unknown shadow baggage). Your public persona, social media opinions, and any good deeds motivated by trying to prove your wokeness don’t work as well on Uranus as they might on other people.

Uranus is lightning fast. It is so freakishly objective it is beyond partisanship. It is like the futuristic societies in popular entertainment that function without money, without hesitation, without “privacy” and in full transparency. If you’ve got any suppressed energy under the surface, Uranus will show it to you, whether you know it’s there or not. Remember right now it’s paired with the Full Moon, which is the easiest time to see shadow.

TIME TO UPDATE DEVICES OR DELETE OLD FILES?

{URANUS IN TAURUS IN TRINE TO MARS IN VIRGO}

The choices and actions, specifically, inspired by your desire to control, organize, analyze, and refine parts of yourself will be underscored by the Uranus Trine to Mars in Virgo. No need to freak out, blame what is outside you, or try to put people in limiting boxes to make yourself feel less chaotic. Uranus aims to provide insights now to guide you forward in a more sustainable and authentic way.

Because Uranus is in Taurus, lessons might touch on creating better boundaries around what you hold onto, where you give your attention, personal energy, money, values, time, and literal possessions. What stuff are you hoarding that keeps you living in the past or future? Is that energy unknowingly keeping you from being present in your familiar environments? Are you holding onto stuff that should be someone else’s responsibility? Is someone else holding onto what is rightfully yours?

Who or what eats up your time, and how do you feel about that? Are you content with the way you nourish yourself? Do you have an imbalanced relationship to technology (overly addicted or too fearful of it) or what you choose to share? Literally, what does your digital data storage picture look like? Does the content on your devices reflect what you give equal priority to, or is it time to invest in deleting or externally storing files? You might find this practice ensures better battery life and processing speed. Is there a similarity in how you treat your devices and your body/health?

Devices aside, negative habits or time-wasting behaviors coming up at this time can be a guide to making some gradual, liberating, vitality-promoting lifestyle changes. Ensure you’re more present by letting your energy and actions more accurately reflect your intended values. With a little work, Uranus can help you become better at lining up the energy you truly carry, your intentions, and your words with your actions. Uranus can show you how to use this authentic alignment within the collective for community benefit, though that picture may be different than what you assume.

HELP ME HELP YOU

{MERCURY IN VIRGO}

Busy boy Mercury (planet of communication) is in Virgo and is making the rounds. Mercury is at home in Virgo and provides an excellent opportunity for refining thoughts, fine-tuning ideas, editing, and analyzing anything generally. This placement is wonderfully solution-oriented, particularly when in service to others. Did you notice that this report is a little heavier on unsolicited advice than usual? That’s what you get for writing under a muse like Mercury in Virgo.

EUREKA!

{MERCURY SEPARATING CONJUNCTION WITH MARS IN VIRGO AND SEPARATING TRINE WITH URANUS IN TAURUS}

Mercury is separating from a recent conjunction with Mars in Virgo and a trine to Uranus in Taurus (described earlier), which may have accounted for mentally feeling busier than normal the last few days. This kind of combination can trigger outbursts, compulsive communication, exacerbated criticism of self or others, or brilliant ideas that feel like a stroke of genius. What you get depends on your ability to understand and channel the energy the Universe provides within your personal vessel. Esoteric tools can be good for helping with this (just saying). This is where Mercury has been, and that energy is still lingering in the air. But Mercury is not stopping there and is already on the way to incorporating two more influences, detailed below.

REDEFINING BOUNDARIES, ENDINGS & BEGINNINGS

{MERCURY IN VIRGO APPLYING OPPOSITION TO NEPTUNE RETROGRADE IN PISCES}

First, Neptune’s influence is likely to inspire ways to bring more creativity, open-mindedness, even spirituality into Mercury’s self-expression. Because Neptune is in retrograde, you are also likely to see these aspects of life more clearly, identify extreme or escapist tendencies, become aware of negative boundary issues that came from being too open, trusting, spiritually blind, clingy or closed off and avoidant.

Mercury in Virgo is giving the opportunity to bring remedy here by closing old doors tighter and opening new ones more widely, rebalancing the Neptunian influence. If one chooses, one can work to create a healthier relationship to personal boundaries and trust based on empowered and conscious volition. Be mindful of needing to be the victim or the savior, as the Virgo-Pisces axis can drive people to these extremes. The Serenity Prayer and work around self-forgiveness can be especially powerful and even necessary right now.

RE-BUILDING THE BONES OF NEW PARADIGMS & IDENTITIES

{MERCURY IN VIRGO APPLYING TRINE TO PLUTO RETROGRADE IN CAPRICORN}

Secondly, Pluto Retrograde in Capricorn is the breaker (and rebuilder) of long-standing structures, identities, ancestral patterns, hierarchical institutions, and definitions of what is considered “powerful” or worthy or “essential” to survival. I’ve not met one person who hasn’t had to question these areas of life in the last two years especially.

Mercury in Virgo making a trine to Pluto will help you refine and assess where you stand now on these issues. What structures from the past are worth keeping, which are worth destroying, and which are worth remodeling? Mercury can help hone your thoughts enough to start deciding with more certainty, or at least light the way for areas where more work needs to be done. For creative material endeavors, this can be a fabulously helpful aspect.

WORK, WORK, WORK

{GRAND TRINE: SATURN RETROGRADE IN AQUARIUS TRINE TO VENUS IN LIBRA TRINE THE NORTH NODE IN GEMINI}

Though Retrograde Saturn is not linked by a special angle to the Full Moon directly, it is currently placed in the same sign of Aquarius. Saturn brings restrictions, limitations, a need for creating order from chaos, discipline, and sometimes a feeling of “karma” hitting. Saturn’s retrograde is about revisiting collective rules, boundaries, what should be permitted, what should be censored, and group attitudes toward supposed “facts”.

It’s in the sign of Aquarius, so that puts a strong emphasis on those topics specifically applied to the technological sphere as well as impacts on the global community over the individual. Saturn sometimes reveals delayed consequences for past behaviors with a hint at opportunity to correct them. Rectification, however, will take persistent and disciplined incremental work. Saturn is never about quick fixes. Saturn is about creating a solid foundation for the long-term.

WHISTLE WHILE YOU WORK, WORK, WORK

{VENUS IN LIBRA}

Venus in Libra is currently Trine to Saturn Retrograde under this Full Moon. Libra is all about balance, the justice system, harmony, music, partnership, mediation when necessary. Venus is the force of seeking union. Venus in Libra wants to make it right and fair and adds a softness to Saturn’s rigid energy. When combined harmoniously as they are, Saturn and Venus are what I call the “whistle while you work” combination.

These two are potent enough, but with both Venus and Saturn also in Trine to the North Node in Gemini, we get a power triangle of flowing energy (Grand Trine) that is hard to ignore. The North Node in Gemini is all about a soul-deep need for self-expression, to connect and converse with like-minded individuals, to share opinions, to teach and learn all that is necessary to fulfill one’s purpose.

CREATING HARMONY IN CONNECTIONS

{NORTH NODE IN GEMINI}

Gemini understands that sometimes lightness, openness and play is needed to connect to truth and that inspiration can come from anywhere. In shadow form, Gemini North Node energy can spread and feed gossip, unbridled obsession over the opinions of others, and exacerbate misaligned words and actions.

Use the energy wisely. If you hear or are tempted into taking on negative opinions that don’t fully resonate with you, do your part: diplomatically speak out to set the record straight rather than hiding in hypocrisy. If there’s something you know you don’t fully know, be content in vulnerably admitting that rather than feeling forced to compromise and pick a side just to please others or look good.

HAPPY FULL MOON!
